Music Night: JohnL3

January 19 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

JohnL3 has been playing and singing “Americana/American Roots Music” in the Richmond, Virginia area for almost ten years, concentrating on old time, folk, country, and original songs. His style is enthusiastic, compelling and very listenable.

American Roots music is made up of the many musical forms that combined on American soil from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. It is drawn from ordinary men and women who presented their own histories, stories, and lived experiences about the human condition in song and music. There are many musical streams that flow together to make the broad river of American Roots music. In fact, think of it as just that, a river. One must trace the American Roots music “river” back upstream to its headwaters in order to appreciate and become aware of the many eddys, streams, and tributaries that created it. For me, the musical streams I’ve been drawn to are: Appalachian/old time, folk, country, bluegrass, rock and roll, gospel, and Cajun.
